yaleD is a dedicated reverse delay audio effect, providing full support as an Audio Unit (AUv3) plugin extension. It is optimized to be utilized within host audio apps such as GarageBand, AUM, Audiobus 3, and Cubasis.
The reverse delay effect of yaleD functions by continuously capturing and playing back reversed sections of the audio input based on the delay time, feedback, and filtering configurations. This effect can be applied subtly or prominently depending on the user's specific setup.
Due to the intricate nature of reverse delay, which relies on both positional synchronization and delay time, the reversals in yaleD are appropriately aligned with the host transport timeline when utilizing beat-based delay times. Alternatively, users can manually synchronize and set the delay time using the Hold Time button by pressing and releasing it at the desired moment.
Key features of yaleD include:
- Full control over input gain, with independent wet and dry output levels.
- Feedback functionality with cross-panning and both low-pass and high-pass filtering.
- Two distinct repeat behaviors when utilizing feedback: one maintains all repeats in reverse, while the other alternates each repeat between reverse and forward playback.
- Delay time can be specified in milliseconds or beats (with 1/16th note accuracy) synced to the host tempo. Users can also define the maximum delay time (up to 20 seconds) in the settings to manage memory usage efficiently.
- Possibility to apply a delay time scaling offset to the second channel for compelling stereo effects.
- Optional Tape effect for a unique auditory experience when adjusting delay time.
- One-Shot mode enables triggered recordings and single reverse playback, ideal for specific musical passages. The hold/record and replay buttons can be controlled using MIDI bindings.
- All parameters are accessible to the AU host, facilitating automation or MIDI bindings from the host.
- Intuitive resizable plugin interface designed for seamless operation within host apps on both iPhones and iPads, catering to touch-based interactions.
